Engagement Opportunities
The following are a sample of the engagements offered by Burton Group Consulting Services and should not be viewed as an exhaustive list of engagements.
We work closely with you to rapidly identify key areas to reduce
operational costs through consolidation (e.g., data centers, servers, storage,
databases, network operations centers and staff) — developing a specific consolidation plan, identifying key areas for cost savings, and selecting appropriate technology solutions.
Leveraging our broad & deep experience with Global 2000 organizations, we develop practical answers to key fundamental questions such as: What is the optimal number of data centers for my enterprise? Where should they be located, and which vendors should we evaluate? What is the most cost-effective Disaster Recovery (DR) topology? What should our sourcing model be? We also provide detailed supporting information which drives these fundamental data center decisions (e.g., infrastructure strategy availability tiers, operational model, operating costs, migration plan, and required investment).
We review your business requirements to assess the committed service levels for different application tiers in conjunction with your current and planned data center, infrastructure, and operational processes. Our recommendations identify a menu of scenarios, each with specific and realistic price/performance estimates to enable your business partners to choose between real Disaster Recovery (DR) costs and their real consequences.
We guide your infrastructure team in identifying, planning for, and deploying current best practices and trends for server, storage, business continuity, and backup & recovery, and assist your organization to deliver on service level objectives and metrics to meet those best practice requirements. We will then assess current capacity management process maturity to help you identify the improvements needed to develop a server architecture that meets your technology and business requirements.
We work with you to accurately estimate the growth and manageability of storage environments, understand how to evaluate your storage environment’s hard-dollar total cost of ownership, and then architect your storage environment based on best practices, including help with vendor selection.
We enable you to make better, more cost-effective long term outsourcing decisions by efficiently comparing your internally delivered IT services to a wide range of externally available services. We use cost and price analysis techniques against a range of performance parameters to ensure you get maximum value from your sourcing decision.
